Some more hessian placemats...

Now that I've worked out how I want to make them I need to make some stock to sell in my shop. So that will be my next challenge.  I'm quite excited with the way they have turned out.
I've also been thinking lately about setting up a stall at some of the local Auckland markets. If anyone reading this knows of some good ones in the area, please let me know which ones you enjoy the most.  I would need them to have an indoor area, out of the wind and rain. I remember years ago doing an outdoor market in Devonport and on the first day of a two day market the heavens opened! I was selling lots of t-shirts at the time and overnight had to wash dry and press about 30 t-shirts ready for the next day. Never again! :)

Hope you're enjoying your weekend! Jill xx

Printing on hessian...

Here's a few samples of  the new placemats and coasters I've been developing over the past couple of weeks.
The designs are printed on hessian and the edges zig-zagged  to stop fraying. They're fun to make and I have a few more designs too that I'll show you in a day or two as I complete them.
These ones have a nice, relaxed summer vibe. I hope you like them.

So, now that I've figured out the designs it won't be long till I have some in my online shop.

I'm back ...on track...

Hello, it's been a while!
Life got a bit hectic there for a while, caring for elderly parents, one of whom is very ill. So of course it still is really busy, but new routines have emerged to cope with it all.
And I have taken a few days off during the past month and being rested helps a lot too. I got a bit too tired toward the end of last year and that wasn't much fun. But sometimes those bad times can instigate some good changes. It certainly has this time. I feel like I have strengthened my boundaries regarding my social life and prioritized eating well and getting enough sleep. Already I am feeling huge benefits. The challenge will be to keep these good things going! But I'm feeling determined and optimistic.
As part of an effort to bring more balance to my life I am now trying to limit my gardening business to mornings only. That means I have more flexibility to help my parents. And when I'm not required I'm going to use the time to put more time and energy i…

Hydrangea design...

Last week I had a session printing my hydrangea design. So, more greeting cards coming soon.  The hydrangea design has been printed in creamy yellow on various colours of poplin. I'm loving these pretty spring colours at the moment.

Have a wonderful week! Jill xx

100 days project, Day 89...

Painting finished at last!

It's been a busy week....

Lots of time in the studio this week...making product, designing labels and taking lots of photos and loading up my online shop.
I've also been continuing with the 100 days project, where I have committed to a regime of painting daily. I'll share some photos of what I've been painting in my next blog update.  In the meantime, have a fabulous weekend!

Day 75...100 days project...

I finished this painting last 75.

It's been so interesting participating in the 100 days project this year. It has really taken over my life. It's a huge commitment. But I'm not complaining. I'm loving it. I find that I am looking forward to my evenings spent painting at my kitchen table. I love the feeling of concentration and immersion. I don't love every painting I have done while on the project, in fact there is one I really don't particularly like at all. But I feel like I'm getting closer to painting the way I want to paint.
I remember a discussion with a friend, years ago, who wanted to learn to paint, and we decided that she should paint 20 paintings, and by the end she would surely have improved a lot and have found her sense of painting style. At the time I remember thinking that I ought to do that myself, but I never gave myself the time to do so.
Well, I think I'm ready to take up that challenge. 6 complete so far. Do I have t…
